Chicken Soup For The HORMONES

CHICKEN SOUP IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL.. and hormones.. and immune system!

I've been playing around with this tasty Ginger Chicken Soup recipe and finally have it just as I like it. I am also very excited about the powerhouse of nutritious ingredients included! This soup is filled with ingredients that support digestion, inflammation, and detoxification - all things we need to make sure we have under control if we want happy, balanced hormones.

These ingredients support your hormones, but they also provide immense support to your whole immune system as well with their high anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.

..Oh and did I mention it tastes AMAZING?

This recipe calls for a few different doTERRA essential oils. If using essential oils internally be sure to make sure you are using a PROVEN and TRUSTED brand (why I ALWAYS choose doTERRA). But don't worry, if you don't have these oils on hand you can always make this recipe using fresh herbs/ spices as well!

HORMONE ENHANCING GINGER CHICKEN SOUP:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

  • 1 yellow onion (medium)

  • 3 stalks of diced celery

  • 3 cloves minced garlic

  • 1-2 drops DoTerra Ginger (or fresh grated ginger)

  • 1 lb. cubed sweet potato

  • 3 cups cubed chicken breast

  • 6 cups bone broth

  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro

  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 tsp turmeric powder (or 1 drop DoTerra turmeric)

  • 1 cup canned coconut milk (full fat)

  • 4 cups chopped kale (de-stemmed)

  • 3 Tbsp. lime juice (about 1 lime juiced)

Directions:

  • Add olive oil to a large pot over medium heat and brown the chicken

  • Add onion, celery, and garlic - sauté until browned

  • Add sweet potatoes, bone broth, ginger EO, cilantro, sea salt, pepper, and turmeric EO - cover and simmer over medium heat for about 30 minutes (until chicken cubes can be easily pulled apart)

  • Remove the chicken from the pot and shred if desired and then return to pot (or leave as cubes)

  • Add in the chopped kale, coconut milk, and lime juice. Cook 3-4 minutes until kale is wilted and soup is hot.

  • Divide into bowls and enjoy! (Add additional sea salt/ pepper if needed for taste)
