Apple Crisp Kefir Breakfast Bowl

Apple Crisp for breakfast? Delicious!

Apple Crisp that your HORMONES annnndd FAMILY will love? #winwin

Breakfast is my favorite meal for women's health.

This is because

  • the proper balance will keep your blood sugar stable

  • you get to pack in nutrients first thing in the morning

  • your metabolism loves a good quality breakfast

  • the quality of your breakfast literally sets the tone for your ENTIRE day

For women’s health , I LOVE to focus on a breakfast that includes lots of protein, anti-inflammatory fats, AND fiber.

But breakfast aside, appropriate food + nutrition in crucial for stress resiliency, proper digestion, hormone balance, energy regulation, and women’s health in general.

Look at it this way..

If you are deficient in nutrients, on a blood sugar roller coaster, eating foods that spike inflammation, your body’s internal stress response is going to be HEIGHTEND.

When stress is spiked (both internally and externally) :

  • you have less resilience to life stress (the stage is set for burnout)

  • hormones get put on the back burner (aka hormone imbalances manifest)

  • digestion gets put on hold (hello digestive symptoms)

  • energy gets severely depleted (insert energy crashes, poor sleep, etc.)

.. the list could go on!

All that being said you can most definitely adjust nutritional habits and use foods to both support your hormones and reduce that stress on your body.

If you want some quick tips , watch my short video - Eating For Less Stress + Better Hormones

This fall themed breakfast bowl is the perfect example of the balance your body needs to start the day.

  • it includes optimal protein, fat, and fiber

  • rich in nutrients

  • even packs in a digestive supportive punch!

What you need:

  • 1 apple - cored / chopped

  • 1/3 cup oats ( quick or rolled)

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds

  • 1 tbsp tahini

  • 3/4 cup coconut kefir (or plain kefir)

What you do:

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, add the apples, rolled oats, tahini, and cinnamon. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring often.

  • Pour the kefir into a bowl and top with the apple crisp mixture and pumpkin seeds

  • Enjoy!

Did I mention this recipe takes less than 10 minutes to prepare? (& if you can’t find 10 minutes in the morning to nourish your body.. don’t worry.. it’s meal prep friendly ;) )
